Sister Survivor Spotlight: LaTonya Richburg

In 2014, at age 45, LaTonya Richburg was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), two forms of breast cancer.

With the love and encouragement of her parents, LaTonya leaned on her faith as she prepared for the journey ahead. Her mother encouraged her to ask God for healing, while her father reminded her of the importance of grace and mercy.

Her treatment included a lumpectomy, removal of a lymph node, and an additional surgery to remove more tissue around the surgical area. She then underwent chemotherapy followed by daily radiation treatments.

Throughout her journey, LaTonya learned the importance of faith, strength, and self-care.

“I stay prayed-up and took care of me first.”

One of her favorite scriptures, Jeremiah 29:11, reminds her that God has plans for her future, filled with hope.

In late 2017, LaTonya turned her experience into something meaningful by writing her first book, It's (Still) Me Only Better – My Life Before, During and After Breast Cancer.

LaTonya's journey is a reminder that even through life's most difficult challenges, there is room for faith, healing, hope, and new beginnings.

Recover Out Loud. Tell Your Story. Survive And Live.
